Eid Al Fitr holiday confirmed: UAE private sector to get up to 4-5 days off

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has officially announced a paid holiday for all private sector employees in the UAE to celebrate Eid Al Fitr. The holiday will begin on Sunday, March 30, 2025, and continue until Tuesday, April 1, 2025 (4 days including Saturday).
However, if the Islamic month of Ramadan lasts 30 days, the break will be extended by one more day to Wednesday, April 2, 2025 (5 days including Saturday).
The exact holiday duration will depend on the sighting of the Shawwal Moon, which marks the end of Ramadan. The UAE’s Moon Sighting Committee will look for the crescent moon on March 29.
- If the Moon is spotted that evening, the Eid break will be March 30 – April 1 (a four-day weekend from Saturday to Tuesday).
- If the Moon is not seen and Ramadan extends to 30 days, the holiday will be from March 31 – April 2 (a five-day weekend from Saturday to Wednesday).
This means UAE residents can look forward to a four-day or five-day break, depending on the Moon sighting.
