Abu Dhabi launches new cultural icon with spectacular 6,000 drone show

The Saadiyat Cultural District was ablaze with excitement as global stars gathered for the exclusive VIP opening of teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi, the city’s latest cultural icon that fuses art, technology, and imagination in an unprecedented way.

A highlight of the evening was a captivating live performance by celebrated Italian composer and pianist Ludovico Einaudi, whose mesmerising melodies set the stage for a night of awe. The opening was further amplified by an extraordinary display of 6,000 synchronised drones paired with dazzling pyrotechnics, creating a breathtaking visual prelude to the evening’s events.

Among the distinguished guests were Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett, Hollywood stars Andrew Garfield and Brendan Fraser, Marvel’s Pom Klementieff, DC’s Grant Gustin, Natalia Dyer from Stranger Things, music mogul Swizz Beatz, spiritual leader Sadhguru, and experimental producer Flying Lotus. These luminaries were joined by creatives, innovators, and leaders from around the globe to celebrate the launch of this one-of-a-kind cultural experience.

A collaboration between the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), Miral, and the Japanese art collective teamLab, teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi, visitors are invited to discover the ever-changing, immersive artworks that respond to their movement and presence.

Situated within the Saadiyat Cultural District, home to the Louvre Abu Dhabi and other prestigious institutions, teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi reinforces Abu Dhabi’s standing as a global hub for art and culture.
