Abu Dhabi T10 2025: Quetta Qavalry blast past Northern Warriors with crushing 51-run win
The 2025 Abu Dhabi T10 exploded into action at the Zayed Cricket Stadium as the Quetta Qavalry stormed to a dominant 51-run victory over the Northern Warriors, announcing their arrival in the tournament with a power-packed all-round display.
Nafay ignites the innings with 12-ball carnage
Quetta’s batting fireworks were led by Khawaja Nafay, whose outrageous 45 off just 12 deliveries, featuring five sixes and two fours, powered the side to a formidable 133/5. He was backed by impactful cameos from Liam Livingstone (24 off 10) and Jason Holder (24 off 10), while Muhammad Waseem (15 off 10) provided an early spark before falling midway through the innings.
For the Warriors, Trent Boult stood out, removing Evin Lewis (2) and Livingstone in a sharp two-over spell. Tabraiz Shamsi, Odean Smith, and Thisara Perera chipped in with a wicket each.
Warriors fall behind early as Qavalry bowlers dominate
Chasing a steep target, the Northern Warriors never found momentum. They were rocked early when Johnson Charles (6) edged Jason Holder in the opening over, crawling to just 41/1 in the first five overs.
A late fightback came through an unbroken 77-run stand between Hazratullah Zazai (31 off 28) and Colin Munro (44 off 28). Despite finding occasional boundaries, the pair couldn’t keep pace with the soaring required rate.
Munro fell off the final ball to Ali Majid, with the Warriors limping to 82/2, handing Quetta a commanding win. Impressively, every Qavalry bowler finished with an economy under 10, sealing a complete bowling performance.
Quetta captain Liam Livingstone praised the clinical execution: “We got off to a great start and read the conditions well. The wicket had plenty in it, so the plan was to hit a good length, and the bowlers nailed it. It’s a new side and captaining in T10 is always a challenge, but we managed key moments well. Hopefully, we can build on this and push for the Final.”
