An essence of future of cricket: Doull and Morrison reflect on Abu Dhabi T10

New Zealand’s iconic commentary pair, Simon Doull and Danny Morrison, took a moment to reflect on the thrill, talent and intensity of the 2025 Abu Dhabi T10, a tournament they believe continues to reshape the future of cricket.

Looking back at the ninth edition, Doull said the league has grown in stature, quality and star power. “Every year, the tournament attracts even more skilled players. The timing works perfectly for international athletes who love competing in the great weather and at the beautiful Zayed Stadium,” he shared. “This is a tournament players genuinely want to win. The teams are strong, the management runs things smoothly, and the competition is fierce.”

When asked about standout talent, Danny Morrison was quick to highlight UAE fast bowler Zohair Iqbal, one of the breakout stars of the season and currently the third-highest wicket-taker with 10 wickets in eight matches. “Zohair has really impressed me,” Morrison noted.

“Even among international bowlers, he has stood out. He’s delivered in key moments for the Aspin Stallions and swung the ball beautifully. These pitches have offered something for both bowlers and batters, and he’s made the most of it.”

Doull also praised the uniqueness of the T10 format itself. “It’s exciting, action-packed and incredibly competitive,” he said.

“You get an essence of the future of cricket here. It’s the shortest and fastest form of the game, everything unfolds in under two hours, and that makes it so easy to consume.”

With Qualifier 2 and the Final just hours away, Morrison weighed in on the two sides he believes could clinch the title. “The Quetta Qavalry has been the most consistent team,” he said.

“But the UAE Bulls, with all the talent they have, only just squeezed into the playoffs. And in franchise cricket, those are often the teams that sneak in and end up winning it all.”
