Art takes over Al Quoz: Dubai unveils new murals in creative zone

Dubai Culture and Arts Authority has just added two bold new murals to the Al Quoz Creative Zone, turning the city’s art scene up a notch as part of its Dubai Public Art Strategy. Designed to transform the emirate into an open-air museum, the initiative is all about bringing creativity to the streets, sparking imagination, and making art accessible to everyone.

Where Culture and Community Meet

Created by a trio of talented female artists, the murals channel the soul and spirit of Al Quoz, a district that’s fast becoming the beating heart of Dubai’s creative economy. These vibrant public artworks don’t just brighten up the area; they invite passersby to pause, reflect, and connect with the city’s cultural narrative.

The Murals:

‘Vibrant Voices of Al Quoz’ by Rabab Tantawy

Egyptian muralist Rabab Tantawy brings the energy of the neighbourhood to life on the façade of Aramtec. Her work features spice stalls, Arabic lanterns, and traditional coffee pots, all woven into a tapestry of arches and domes, a nod to the multicultural buzz of Al Quoz.

‘Wonder Windows’ by Hend Al Murid & Dina Saadi

Across the district, Emirati artist Hend Al Murid and Syrian muralist Dina Saadi teamed up on a playful piece for the WooHoo children’s museum. Their mural, filled with whimsical details like the Hudhud bird (hoopoe) and traditional dalla, taps into childhood wonder, nostalgia, and discovery.

More Than Just Murals

“These works are more than decorative, they’re a celebration of Al Quoz’s role as a cultural incubator,” said Shaima Rashid Al Suwaidi, CEO of the Arts, Design & Literature Sector at Dubai Culture.
“We want to empower artists to tell the story of the UAE in ways that inspire, uplift, and create dialogue.”

The murals are part of a broader effort to make art a living, breathing part of everyday life in Dubai, supporting the emirate’s vision to become a global hub for culture and creativity.

Art as a Destination

Mozah Lootah, Project Manager for the Dubai Public Art Strategy, highlighted how projects like this don’t just support local talent — they also elevate Dubai’s urban spaces as must-visit cultural destinations.

“Public art fosters connection,” she said. “It invites residents and tourists alike to see the city with new eyes.”
