Organic shopping has got a new address in Dubai – courtesy Carrefour.
Carrefour has opened its first bio store in City Centre Me’aisem.
The outlet looks at promoting organic and sustainable products to conserve the environment.
It is built to enhance the quality of lives of the people and aims for their long term health.
An indoor hydroponic farm in the store sends a clear message that organic farming is a healthy practice and brings about sustainability.
The in-store cafe provides customers with a range of dishes to choose from — pizzas to gluten-free croissants and other breads. They also have sugar-free, dairy-free and keto products.
Your organic shopping experience helps the local community as well; the store supports and promotes the locally sourced products by placing them on their store shelves. The shelves and the tables are also made of recycled pallets.
A special area of the store has been designated to showcase local products.
Refilling stations for water and detergents are placed in the store to prevent excessive use of plastic. The carry bags are made from biodegradable material. This is in line with the store’s aim to remove the usage of single use plastic by 2025.
The store has introduced a WiFi system to help in price tags to save on paper used for printing labels. As much as 20 per cent of the in-store items are exclusive under their private label brand ‘Carrefour Bio’.
The store was inaugurated on February 25 by Mariam Bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Almheiri, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment and Hani Weiss, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Retail.
Be organic, Be Bio and shop at Carrefour’s ‘Carrefour Bio’ store.
