Catch Dubai Fountain’s last show on April 19: Here’s why it’s closing

Dubai’s world-famous fountain is set to go dark, at least for a few months. The Dubai Fountain, the world’s largest choreographed water spectacle, is closing for a major revamp.

The last dazzling show will take place on April 19, a month earlier than planned. The revamp will take five months, with the fountain expected to return in time for Dubai’s winter sun season, promising bigger, brighter, and bolder performances than ever before.

Sitting beneath the towering Burj Khalifa, the iconic fountain shoots water an eye-popping 500 metres into the sky, and it’s about to get even better.

Tech Upgrade & A New Look

The multimillion-dirham transformation will introduce cutting-edge technology, jaw-dropping choreography, and a revamped sound and lighting system to take the experience to a whole new level.

“Dubai Fountain stands as a reflection of Dubai’s bold vision,” said Mohamed Alabbar, founder of Emaar, which owns the attraction.

“This restoration underscores our commitment to maintaining its legacy as a beacon of creativity and excellence.”

Designed by the same team behind Las Vegas’ iconic Bellagio fountains, the Dubai Fountain first wowed crowds back in 2009. With 6,600 lights and 25 colour projectors, it has performed to a star-studded playlist featuring Michael Jackson’s Thriller, Adele’s Skyfall, Pavarotti’s Nessun Dorma, and even K-pop sensation EXO’s Power!

Still Fancy a View

While the fountain takes a break, visitors can still soak up stunning sights from the Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa, as the surrounding areas will remain open.

Don’t miss your last chance to watch the magic before it disappears on April 19.
