Crazy Horse Paris is coming to Dubai: Iconic cabaret to debut at Zabeel Theatre

Dubai is about to get a taste of one of Paris’ most iconic nightlife institutions. Crazy Horse Paris: The Dubai Edition will make its debut at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray from November 19, bringing the legendary cabaret’s distinctive mix of dance, lighting and theatrical spectacle to the UAE.

The show will transform the former Zabeel Theatre into an intimate 200-seat theatre, where guests can choose between a 90-minute performance or a dinner-and-show experience.

Tickets go on sale Friday, August 28, with prices yet to be announced.

A Paris cabaret institution

Often simply known as Le Crazy, Crazy Horse Paris was founded by artist Alain Bernardin on May 19, 1951, at 12 Avenue George V in Paris. Alongside institutions such as the Moulin Rouge and the Lido, it has become one of the French capital’s best-known cabaret venues.

What makes Crazy Horse distinctive is its highly stylised approach to performance. Rather than relying solely on traditional cabaret costumes, its dancers are famously presented through light, shadow and geometric projections, creating the illusion that the performers themselves are “dressed in light”.

The classically trained dancers, known as the Crazy Girls, have traditionally shared a carefully curated stage aesthetic, including sleek bobbed wigs with blunt bangs and the signature Crazy Rouge red lipstick.

From Paris to Dubai

The Dubai edition promises to combine the heritage of the Paris institution with what organisers describe as the bold, contemporary spirit of Dubai.

Guests will be able to choose from several seating categories, ranging from Standard to Preferred and Premium. Premium and higher categories come with additional perks, while those wanting the ultimate experience can opt for VIP seating or a Crazy Suite.

The Crazy Suite includes a private VIP room, dedicated butler service and premium drinks.

There will also be two main experiences: the 90-minute Crazy Show, or a Crazy Show and dinner package combining the performance with a pre-theatre meal.

A history of celebrity collaborations

Over its more than seven decades in Paris, Crazy Horse has attracted plenty of famous names and creative collaborators.

The venue has featured guest appearances and collaborations involving stars including Dita Von Teese, Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra and Lisa of BLACKPINK, while designers such as Christian Louboutin and Chantal Thomass have also contributed to its artistic world.

The Paris shows are known for combining choreography with sophisticated lighting and visual effects, with performances often designed around the interplay between the dancers’ movements, shadows and projections.

An intimate setting

Part of the Crazy Horse experience is its atmosphere. The original Paris venue is an intimate, subterranean space with a distinctive red-velvet lounge aesthetic, created from historic Haussmann-era wine cellars.

The Dubai production will take a different setting, but the 200-seat capacity of the former Zabeel Theatre is designed to preserve that sense of intimacy rather than turning the production into a large-scale arena show.
