Empty stages: Inside Abu Dhabi’s big September concert cancellations

Abu Dhabi’s 2026 entertainment calendar has suffered a major shake-up, with The Corrs, Christina Aguilera and the OFFLIMITS Music Festival all cancelled within days of each other.

The cancellations have left fans facing refunds and uncertainty over several highly anticipated September and November performances, although several major events remain on the capital’s calendar.

The Corrs cancel September 27 show

Irish pop-rock group The Corrs announced on August 19 that their concert at Etihad Arena on September 27 would no longer take place.

The band cited “unforeseen circumstances beyond our control”, but did not provide further details or announce a replacement date. Ticket holders have been directed to seek refunds through their original point of purchase.

The cancellation came just one day after another major Etihad Arena show was called off.

Christina Aguilera show also cancelled

Christina Aguilera was scheduled to perform at Etihad Arena on September 25, but Ticketmaster confirmed on August 18 that the concert had been cancelled.

No reason was given and no new date has been announced. Ticketmaster said refunds would be processed automatically to the original payment method within 21 working days.

The concert had already been moved from April to September amid the wider disruption affecting regional events and travel.

OFFLIMITS 2026 cancelled

The cancellations extend beyond individual concerts.

OFFLIMITS Music Festival, which was scheduled for November 21 at Etihad Park, was also cancelled. The festival had been due to feature a major international lineup led by Shakira, alongside the Jonas Brothers, Ne-Yo and Biffy Clyro.

Organisers confirmed that ticket holders would be automatically refunded through their original ticketing platforms and said they hoped to bring the festival back to Abu Dhabi in 2027.

Why are so many events being affected?

The cancellations come amid regional tensions and continued disruption to aviation and travel.

However, the organisers of the three events have not all publicly attributed their cancellations to the same reason. The Corrs cited unforeseen circumstances, while no specific reason was given for Aguilera’s cancellation or OFFLIMITS’ cancellation.

What to watch out for

Abu Dhabi’s events calendar isn’t all empty

Despite the recent cancellations, the capital still has a substantial programme of entertainment coming up.

Middle East Film & Comic Con is scheduled for September 11–13, with guests including John Cena, Pom Klementieff, Arden Cho, Jacob Romero, Mackenyu and Joonas Suotamo.

The Abu Dhabi Comedy Season is also scheduled to feature Morgan Jay on October 11, Russell Peters on October 25, Mo Amer on November 6 and Maz Jobrani on November 7.

Music fans can also look forward to Hans Zimmer on November 13 and Andrea Bocelli on December 2, according to the current events calendar.

Refunds are the key message for ticket holders

For fans affected by the cancellations, the advice is straightforward: check the platform where the original ticket was purchased.

  • The Corrs: Refunds available through the original point of purchase.
  • Christina Aguilera: Automatic refund to the original payment method, within 21 working days.
  • OFFLIMITS: Automatic refunds through the original ticketing platform.

For now, Abu Dhabi’s 2026 concert calendar is facing an unusual period of uncertainty. Three major music events have disappeared from the schedule in just a few days, but organisers and venues are still pressing ahead with a sizeable programme of concerts, comedy and pop-culture events for the months ahead.
