The awards, among the most prestigious in the region, recognise outstanding contributions to literature, academia, and publishing on both Arab and global levels. They reaffirm Sharjah’s role as a cultural hub, inspired by the vision of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

Categories & Prizes:

  • Sharjah Award for Emirati Books (Dh300,000): Includes Dh100,000 each for Best Emirati Novel and Best Emirati Academic Book, plus Dh50,000 each for Best Emirati Creative Literature Book (Theatrical Texts) and Best Emirati First Novel.
  • Best Arabic Novel (Dh150,000): Awarded to both author and publisher for works that show originality and critical depth.
  • Best International Book (Dh100,000): Split between Best International Fiction and Best International Non-Fiction (published in English).
  • Publisher Recognition Award (Dh75,000): Honours Best Local Publisher, Best Arab Publisher, and Best International Publisher, each receiving Dh25,000.

The SBA encourages submissions from authors and publishers worldwide, noting that the awards have helped spotlight new voices, promote publishing excellence, and position Sharjah as a global hub for literature and book culture.
