Dubai RTA to auction 300 premium number plates in February: How to bid on rare 2- and 3-digit plates

If you’ve ever dreamed of owning a standout number plate in Dubai, this could be your moment. Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced its 82nd online auction, offering 300 premium number plates for private cars, classic vehicles and motorcycles.

The auction features highly sought-after 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-digit number plates, a category that continues to attract strong interest from collectors, car enthusiasts and investors across the UAE. Plates will carry a wide range of codes, including H, I, K, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y and Z.

Registration for the online auction opens on Monday, while bidding will begin on February 9 and run for seven days only. Participation is open to anyone with a registered traffic file in Dubai.

To take part, bidders must submit a refundable security cheque of Dh5,000 payable to RTA, along with a non-refundable registration fee of Dh120. Registration can be completed at RTA Customer Happiness Centres in Umm Ramool, Al Barsha and Deira, or online via the RTA website.

All winning bids will be subject to 5 per cent VAT. Successful bidders are required to complete payment within 10 working days from the close of the auction, either online, at Customer Happiness Centres or through authorised service providers.

Premium number plates remain a popular status symbol in Dubai, often seen as both a personal statement and a long-term investment. With limited availability and strong demand, RTA’s latest auction is expected to draw significant attention across the emirate.
