Dubai’s $100 billion dream: Sheikh Mohammed launches Gitex 2025 to power UAE’s AI future

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Tuesday opened the 45th edition of Gitex Global, the world’s largest technology and artificial intelligence showcase, at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The five-day event, running until October 17, brings together 6,800 tech companies and 2,000 startups from 180 countries, solidifying Dubai’s position as a global hub for innovation, investment and digital transformation.

UAE to be a global model in digital economy

Sheikh Mohammed said the UAE is advancing confidently in its journey to build a world-leading digital economy powered by innovation, knowledge and artificial intelligence.

“We want the UAE to be a global model in building an integrated digital economy driven by innovation, knowledge and AI, and to serve as an international platform accelerating technological and economic transformation,” he said.

“In Dubai, we have an ambitious vision to raise the annual contribution of digital transformation to the emirate’s economy to Dh100 billion by 2033, and we are moving confidently towards achieving this goal.”

Gitex Global 2025 features a packed agenda of AI-focused conferences, expert sessions and live showcases, driving collaboration across industries. The event serves as a powerful catalyst for partnerships that accelerate digital innovation and foster sustainable economic growth.

During his tour, Sheikh Mohammed visited pavilions and also viewed futuristic mobility technologies such as flying cars, electric air taxis, and autonomous vehicles at the e& pavilion.
