Planning a trip to Dubai just got a little less stressful for Emirates passengers.

The airline has introduced a series of measures designed to give travellers more flexibility when booking and managing their journeys. The changes include unlimited free date changes on flights to Dubai, lower refund charges on selected fares, broader travel protection and additional benefits for Emirates Skywards members.

The latest measures are aimed at giving passengers more options if their plans change, whether they need to move their travel dates, cancel a booking or protect themselves against unexpected disruptions.

Here are the key Emirates travel benefits travellers should know about.

1. Unlimited free date changes for Dubai flights

From August 10, customers travelling to Dubai can change their flight dates as many times as necessary without paying a change fee, depending on the applicable fare conditions.

The benefit covers a wide range of Economy and Business Class fares.

In Economy, free date changes apply to Saver through Flex fares, while Business Class passengers travelling on Special, Saver and Flex fares are also covered.

Higher-tier flexible fares, including Economy Flex Plus, Premium Economy, Business Flex Plus and First Class, already offer full flexibility.

For travellers whose plans may change, the policy provides significantly more freedom when arranging a Dubai trip.

2. Emirates reduces refund fees

Emirates has also lowered the cost of cancelling eligible Dubai bookings.

For Economy Class, refund fees are now:

• $50 for Saver fares
• $25 for Flex fares

For Business Class, the fees are:

• $50 for Special and Saver fares
• $25 for Flex fares

Combined with unlimited free date changes, the reduced refund charges give passengers more options if they decide that changing their travel dates is not enough and they need to cancel their trip.

3. One free date change across the Emirates network

The flexibility isn’t limited to Dubai.

Customers travelling anywhere across the Emirates network can receive one free date change on tickets booked from April 2, 2026. The benefit also applies to itineraries that connect through Dubai.

Travellers can also place a fare on hold for 24 hours at no additional cost, giving them more time to finalise their plans before committing to the booking.

4. Emirates expands travel protection

Another major addition is Emirates’ Comprehensive Travel Cover, an insurance option designed to protect passengers against a range of unexpected situations.

The cover includes additional protection related to conflicts, with reimbursement of medical expenses of up to $25,000, as well as a free trip extension of up to 30 days.

Passengers can also receive protection for situations including:

• Trip cancellation
• Baggage delays
• Lost baggage
• Worldwide medical expenses
• Emergency evacuation

The insurance is available in 27 countries and can be purchased when making a booking through Emirates’ website or added later through the airline’s Manage Booking service.

Emirates says the cover is not restricted by government travel advice, giving customers an additional layer of protection when circumstances change unexpectedly.

What happens if an Emirates flight is disrupted?

The airline says it will provide accommodation directly for customers whose flights are disrupted where required.

If a passenger’s onward connection with another airline is affected, or an Emirates service is unavailable, the airline says it will rebook customers to their final destination at no extra cost.

This also applies in situations where cancellations result from airspace disruptions, according to Emirates.

5. Emirates Skywards members can save more

Frequent flyers also have additional incentives through the Emirates Skywards programme.

Until August 31, eligible members can benefit from several limited-time offers.

These include:

20% fewer Tier Miles needed to reach Silver, Gold and Platinum status.

Members can also earn a 20% bonus Tier Miles when travelling on Emirates and flydubai flights.

There are additional savings for members using Cash+Miles. During the offer period, 2,000 Miles can be used for $30, compared with the usual $15 rate, when redeeming Miles toward Emirates or flydubai flights, excess baggage, lounge access and seat selection.

The latest changes give Emirates customers more room to adjust their travel plans without immediately facing high additional costs.

For those travelling to Dubai, the biggest change is the ability to modify travel dates repeatedly without a change fee, subject to the applicable fare terms. Lower refund fees provide another option for passengers whose plans change completely.

The addition of broader travel insurance and disruption support also gives travellers more protection against unexpected events.

For Skywards members, the temporary Tier Miles and Cash+Miles offers provide another reason to make the most of the programme before the August 31 deadline.
