Ex-Team India batter Suresh Raina signs for Toronto Sixers in Canada Super 60

Former India superstar and explosive middle-order batter, Suresh Raina, is heading to Canada. The World Cup winner, known for his dynamic fielding and vital knocks, has officially signed with the Toronto Sixers for the inaugural Canada Super 60 tournament.

The groundbreaking 10-over (Super 60) league runs from October 8 to 13, at the iconic BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, marking the first major cricket league debut on Canada’s West Coast.

What to Expect in Vancouver

Raina’s presence is expected to be a massive draw, bringing his wealth of T20 experience to the unique 60-ball format. He joins an already stacked Toronto Sixers squad featuring international heavyweights like Alex Hales, Jason Roy, and Andre Fletcher.

The tournament is more than just a new league; it’s a global first, launching both men’s and women’s competitions simultaneously in the Super 60 format, backed by Cricket Canada to boost the sport across North America.

The Voices of Excitement

Raina expressed his enthusiasm for the new venture: “I’m really excited to be part of the Canada Super 60. Since this is the inaugural edition, it already feels special and promises to be a top-class tournament. I’m looking forward to playing alongside [the international and Canadian talent] and contributing to the team’s success.”

Toronto Sixers CEO, Sami Faridi, highlighted the value Raina brings: “He is a World Cup winner… His vast experience in the shorter format will be a big advantage for us.”
