Flying to London this winter? Emirates adds 48 weekly flights to meet demand

Emirates is significantly boosting its presence at London Heathrow Airport, adding six weekly flights to bring its total operations to 48 services starting October 26, as the airline positions itself to capitalise on robust winter travel demand.
Strategic Expansion Ahead of Peak Season
The move comes as Emirates doubles down on one of its most crucial European gateways, building upon its existing six daily Airbus A380 flights to Heathrow. The additional services will be operated by the airline’s Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, featuring the carrier’s signature three-class configuration across First, Business, and Economy.
In a strategic scheduling decision, the new flights will operate daily except Fridays, offering overnight departures from London that provide seamless connectivity through Emirates’ Dubai hub.
A Web of Global Connections
The expansion isn’t just about adding flights—it’s about creating a more robust network of international connections. Passengers departing from London Heathrow will enjoy enhanced access to key destinations across Asia and Africa, including vibrant cities like Hong Kong, Beijing, Kuala Lumpur, Phuket, Jakarta, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Durban.
For travellers heading to London, the benefits are equally compelling. The increased service frequency strengthens links from West Asia and the Middle East, with improved connectivity from cities including Ahmedabad, Lahore, the Maldives, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bahrain, Dammam, and Riyadh.
Building a UK Aviation Empire
This Heathrow expansion is part of Emirates’ ambitious vision for its UK operations. By early 2026, the airline will operate an impressive 90 weekly flights across its three London gateways—Heathrow, Gatwick, and Stansted.
The growth includes a notable milestone: a fourth daily service to London Gatwick launching February 8, 2026, operated by Emirates’ newest aircraft, the Airbus A350.
Looking at the bigger picture, Emirates will serve a total of 146 weekly flights spanning six UK cities: London, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle, Glasgow, and Edinburgh—cementing its position as one of the UK’s most significant long-haul carriers.
Strategic Fleet Deployment
Emirates’ approach showcases sophisticated capacity management. The airline continues to deploy its iconic double-decker A380 aircraft on core Heathrow routes, leveraging the superjumbo’s passenger capacity and premium cabin offerings. Meanwhile, the Boeing 777-300ER provides flexibility for expansion routes, giving travellers more options while maintaining the carrier’s renowned service standards.
The dual-aircraft strategy allows Emirates to serve diverse market demands while optimising operational efficiency across its extensive network.
What This Means for Travellers
For passengers, the expansion translates to:
- More flight options and flexible scheduling
- Enhanced connectivity to over 140 destinations via Dubai
- Reduced connection times through strategic overnight departures
- Continued access to Emirates’ award-winning onboard service across all cabin classes
As global travel continues its upward trajectory and the year-end holiday season approaches, Emirates’ capacity boost signals confidence in sustained demand for international air travel and Dubai’s enduring appeal as a global connectivity hub.
