Golden tickets go on sale as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory heads to Abu Dhabi
Chocolate lovers and musical fans, this one’s for you. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is making its regional debut in Abu Dhabi, and it promises to be as magical (and sweet) as you’d expect.
From August 28 to September 6, 2026, the beloved musical will take over Etihad Arena on Yas Island, bringing Willy Wonka, Charlie Bucket, Grandpa Joe and a whole crew of mischievous Oompa Loompas to the capital as part of its international tour.
Based on Roald Dahl’s timeless classic, the stage production features songs from the iconic 1971 film, including fan favourites like Pure Imagination, The Candy Man, and I’ve Got a Golden Ticket. Singing along is highly encouraged, chocolate optional, but recommended.
The musical first debuted on Broadway in 2017, running for more than 300 performances, before touring North America for four years. Its West End production won two Olivier Awards, and the current world tour has already delighted audiences across Asia, with stops in cities including Manila, Singapore, Shanghai and Seoul, before making its much-anticipated Abu Dhabi stop.
Audiences can expect a feast for the senses, complete with chocolate rivers, eye-popping special effects and dazzling sets, all wrapped up in a feel-good story that’s perfect for families, kids and nostalgic grown-ups alike.
