Goodbye to printers: Dubai Government goes 100% paperless
Move over printers. Dubai has turned a new page by becoming the first 100% paperless government in the world. The completion of the Dubai Paperless Strategy was announced by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, in a tweet on Saturday.
The initiative, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and the Ruler of Dubai, in 2018, was implemented in five phases and covers all 45 government entities.
The strategy has successfully reduced paper consumption by more than 336 million papers and saved more than Dh. 1.3 billion, in addition to 14 million man-hours.
All transactions of the government will now be digitised and will bring to life the smart city vision for Dubai. The objectives of the strategy aim to project the future of the Emirate as a prominent digital capital on the world map.
