Mark your menus: Orthodox Christmas is here!

Don’t feel sad over Christmas passing just yet. ’Cause, it’s time for Orthodox Christmas.

Here’s a little-known fact – Orthodox Christians celebrate Christmas that falls on or near January 7 annually based on the Julian calendar. Russia, Ethiopia and Greece are among the countries that commemorate Orthodox Christmas, with a lot of enthusiasm.

Figuring out where to celebrate in Dubai? Don’t worry we got you covered.

1. Publique

Ded Moroz or Grandfather Frost is the Russian counterpart of Santa Claus and guess what? He’s going to be at Publique! Dishes like vareniki, kholodets and Golubtsi will be part of the menu. The package is priced at Dh595 for the sharing menu and Dh95 for kids aged eight to 15, but those under the age of eight are free.

2. Nobu

Executive chef Damien Duviau has curated a unique a la carte menu consisting of wagyu beef tartare with crispy foie gras rice, seared salmon agua among other dishes. You can check out Nobu at Atlantis, the Palm. Sounds mouthwatering!

3. Saffron

Another restaurant from Atlantis, The Palm where you can enjoy a scrumptious Orthodox Christmas meal. You can make merry with a transcontinental feast featuring pod shuboy, borscht beef soup, Zapečini roasted duck and salmon kulebyaka. Dig in from 6pm-10.30pm for Dh225 per person.

4. Roka

The opulent Japanese restaurant Roka conceived a noteworthy celebration for Orthodox Christmas. Only for today (January 7), guests can taste a menu prepared by executive chef Libor Dobois. The selection includes sashimi, wagyu tempura maki and black cod and king crab dumplings among other appetizing dishes, priced at Dh450 per person.

5. Brunello Restaurant

An elegant feast at Brunello is set to welcome customers with complete festive decor. The restaurant can be found at Kempinski Hotel and Residences Palm Jumeirah. The banquet also includes unlimited beverages – Dh350 for soft beverages and Dh550 for house beverages.

6. Ammos

Enjoy a taste of the sea at the famous Greek-styled restaurant at Rixos Premium Dubai, JBR calls upon diners to relish a limited-edition seafood platter to celebrate the occasion. The platter boasts 12 oysters, a grilled lobster, one Greek sea bream and two king prawns, priced at Dh995 per couple.

7. Seafire Steakhouse

Fancy a bit of caviar? Find it front and centre at Seafire Steakhouse as they collaborate with Kaviari premium caviar for diners to enjoy. Diners can taste three different types of caviar – kristal, oscietra and beluga alongside a tower of seafood. Just wow.
