Dubai Fountain comeback still in the works, official update awaited

One of Dubai’s most iconic attractions is gearing up for a grand return. The Dubai Fountain, which has been officially closed since April 19 for major upgrades, is now showing early signs of revival. Visitors at Dubai Mall have already spotted water beginning to refill the massive Burj Lake, the first visible progress since the attraction was drained earlier this year.
During its closure, the world’s largest performing fountain, a must-see on the itinerary of first-time Dubai visitors, was replaced by giant digital screens entertaining the thousands of daily tourists in Downtown Dubai.
More than 30 acres of water were emptied to allow Emaar, the property developer behind the attraction, to replace the old flooring with a new concrete base designed to better insulate the water. The fountain had been scheduled to reopen by October 1, but signs suggest it could welcome visitors earlier than expected.
Videos and photos circulating on social media show the attraction’s lake is steadily filling up, though some work remains before the fountain can be fully operational.
However, according to a report, Emaar confirmed that while the Dubai Fountain does not yet have a set reopening date, upgrade works are progressing as planned. Any official updates will be announced in due course.
When it does reopen, fans can expect a completely upgraded experience. The revamped Dubai Fountain will feature advanced technology, enhanced sound and lighting systems, and improved choreography. Robots will also play a role in controlling water movement and lighting to deliver a more spectacular show.
Known for spraying up to 22,000 gallons of water as high as 140 metres into the air, the fountain’s dazzling nightly displays have long been a highlight of Downtown Dubai, set to music ranging from classical to contemporary hits.
With the upgrades nearing completion, it won’t be long before the city’s most famous water show lights up the Burj Khalifa’s backdrop once again.
