Instagram just got safer for teens in UAE: Here’s what you need to know

Instagram is rolling out a brand-new set of ‘teen accounts’, designed for the youth. And guess what? It’s being launched first in the UAE, thanks to a collaboration between Meta and the UAE’s Digital Wellbeing Council.
So, what’s the deal?
These new teen accounts are built to keep your Insta experience fun, safe, and drama–free. Think:
Stronger privacy settings
Less weird or harmful content in your feed
More control over what you see (and what sees you)
Tools your parents can use without being invasive
The initiative aims to give teenagers greater freedom to browse, share, and connect online while ensuring their digital spaces remain safe from inappropriate content and unwanted interactions. It’s designed to protect young users as they enjoy their time on social media.
During the launch, Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed (aka someone high up in the UAE government) said it’s not just about fast internet or flashy apps — it’s about looking out for the next generation, aka you.
They’ve even put together a handy guide to help parents understand what’s up, so maybe now your folks will chill out a little when you’re on your phone at night
Plus, there was a big workshop where experts talked about future safety rules to make the internet even better for everyone.
