Instagram launches ‘Notes’ feature in DMs : Here’s how to use it
Some could call it the new Instagram text story, others could say it’s a WhatsApp status knock-off that can only be seen by people you choose to share with. The new feature ‘Notes’ on Instagram allows you to post a 60-character or less, disappearing update or announcement.
It can be found below the search bar of the Direct Message (DM) or Inbox section and will be visible to your followers for 24 hours. After experimenting with it for a while since June this year with a limited number of users, the feature is now being tested on a wider audience. Since Instagram is rolling out the feature in batches, some users noticed this feature on their app many weeks ago while others have only started to notice it now.
If you don’t have it yet, you may have it soon. The app has been focusing and promoting primarily on video-based content (like its Reels). Now, Instagram is doubling-down on messaging and its features to withhold its users from clicking out of the app. Adam Mosseri, the Head of Instagram said “Messaging is the primary way people connect online.” With the new ‘Notes’, you have the option of sharing it with either your close friends or the people who follow you and you follow back and they could reply to it directly to you, thus beginning a conversation.
So, if you’re someone who loves the idea of text posts or even enjoyed MSN statuses, this might be something you’ll like.
