Join the Sherlock Holmes investigative experience at Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival

A thrilling mystery is unfolding at this year’s Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF), and it’s filled with clues, danger, and a touch of Victorian intrigue.
Sherlock Holmes fans can step into the iconic 221B Baker Street at the Expo Centre Sharjah, where a 12-day exhibition transports visitors into the world of the famous detective. The exhibition features a recreated living room, Dr. Watson’s study, a crime scene, and even the actual carriage used in the Sherlock Holmes movie.
An Interactive Whodunit: Solve the Mystery!
The exhibition is far from a static display. It’s an interactive crime scene where visitors use Holmes-style deduction to solve a mystery.
The adventure starts in Sherlock’s recreated apartment, filled with books, a walking stick by the fireplace, and an HMV gramophone. Next, visitors move through Dr. Watson’s study, with a bust of him peering through the window, and onto the main event: the crime scene.
A Blend of History, Science, and Storytelling
The exhibition blends historical forensic techniques with Victorian aesthetics, giving guests a lesson in history, chemistry, and storytelling all at once.
A Cinematic Experience
Among the star attractions is the carriage used in the original Sherlock Holmes film, brought from London, along with props from the Sherlock Holmes Museum. Visitors can also explore vintage cameras, a full-scale typewriter, and film scripts that show how crime scenes were documented before modern forensics.
Solve the Multi-Stage Mystery Game
The highlight of the exhibition is the multi-stage mystery game, where visitors test their logic and problem-solving skills. They analyse drag marks in the sand, study a broken statue, and guess which poisonous plant led to a tragedy.
Don’t Miss This Dynamic Experience
Curated by a team of Sherlockians and featuring pieces that have toured museums worldwide, this exhibition is one of the most dynamic experiences at SCRF 2025.
