If you were a fan of Looney Toons as a child, you are going to love this new show on Netflix.
‘Cat Burglar’, the new animated cartoon, brings TV and video games together. It’s the latest strategy the platform is introducing to promote games with a twist of interactive storytelling.
Netflix revealed ‘Cat Burglar’, a cartoon series much like Looney Tunes in which viewers answer trivia questions and take the story forward. With an average run time of 15 minutes, but more than 90 minutes of animation to watch, Netflix hopes that audiences will replay the title multiple times to watch the sequences that they haven’t already covered.
The streaming service claims that ‘Cat Burglar’ is the biggest interactive film to date, directed by the famous ‘Black Mirror’ producer. Bandersnatch, that 2018 movie lets viewers choose from specific options for the characters, taking them on different plot journeys towards different endings. ‘Cat Burglar’ brings a gaming atmosphere on-screen— with viewers controlling whether the cat in question survives the scene and advances to the next, simulating challenges in a video game.
“The idea that you can interact with the content is something that we are exploring across all genres, all types of things”, Andy Weil, Netflix’s vice president of comedy and interactive, said.
That’s not all. In November, the company released video games for mobile devices, including titles that used content and characters from Netflix originals like ‘Stranger Things.
Bored of the usual Netflix stuff, sit back, and hold on to your device as you experience entertainment gamified.
