New bus and boat routes to make it easier to reach Sharjah International Book Fair
Heading to the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) this November? Getting there just got a lot easier.
The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) has announced an expanded transport plan that includes new bus and boat routes, increased frequency, and free onward connections to help visitors reach the 44th edition of the fair, running from November 5 to 16 at Expo Centre Sharjah.
To make travel more convenient, the routes will operate from key pickup points across Dubai, Ajman, and Sharjah, ensuring visitors have easy and affordable access to one of the region’s largest cultural events.
If you’re coming from Dubai, you can even make the trip by sea. The FR5 marine route connects Al Ghubaiba Marine Station in Dubai to Sharjah Aquarium Marine Station, and from there, free traditional boat rides will shuttle passengers between Sharjah Aquarium, Al Qasba, and the Expo Centre during the fair’s opening hours.
For those who prefer the road, two daily shuttle buses will run from Dubai’s Al Rashidiya Bus Station and City Centre Ajman. Departures to the Expo Centre are scheduled for 9am, 1pm, and 5pm, with return trips at 12pm, 4pm, and 9pm.
Meanwhile, marine transport services will run throughout the week:
- From Sharjah Aquarium to Al Ghubaiba: Monday–Thursday at 7am, 8.30am, 1pm, 4.45pm, and 6.15pm; Fridays at 7am, 8.30am, 2pm, 4pm, and 6pm; weekends at 2pm, 4pm, 6pm, and 9pm.
- From Al Ghubaiba to Sharjah: weekdays at 7.45am, 12pm, 4pm, 5.30pm, and 7pm; Fridays at 7.45am, 10am, 3pm, 5pm, and 7pm; weekends at 3pm, 5pm, 8pm, and 10pm.
The improved routes and free shuttle options are part of Sharjah’s ongoing efforts to make the book fair more accessible to everyone — whether you’re commuting from nearby emirates or exploring the emirate’s scenic coastline by boat.
