Now await an AI-powered tutor in UAE classrooms
Students in UAE classrooms can look forward to having their doubts cleared by a tutor powered by artificial intelligence (AI) soon. This was announced on Tuesday, February 14, by the Minister of Education, Ahmed Belhoul Al Falasi, at the World Government Summit 2023 in Dubai.
The Federal Ministry will be working with partners like Microsoft, OpenAI and other tech companies to ensure that AI technologies are used to enhance the quality of learning and education, he said in his opening remarks ahead of a session on the Future of Higher Education and Lifelong Learning.
“Our partnership aims to enhance the learning experience of our students through the use of advanced learning models such as open AI. For this collaboration, the Ministry and its partners will work together to develop education tools that can provide students with personal support and resources. This new-age tutor will be designed to improve students’ understanding of the subjects, offer instant feedback and guidance and make learning engaging and interactive,” he added.
According to Al Falasi, the UAE is fully committed to utilising technology to improve the quality of education and to provide students with the resources needed to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
“Today, the UAE will be one of the few countries in the world to incorporate generative artificial intelligence (AI) across its educational systems,” said the minister. “Artificial Intelligence will part of our lives whether at home or at work. It is our responsibility to prepare our children for this AI-driven future by providing them with the knowledge and skills.”
Generative AI is a term used to describe any type of artificial intelligence used to create new text, images, video, audio, code or synthetic data. “It is therefore with great pride that I announce today that UAE will be among the first countries globally to fully embed AI tools across its educational systems,” the minister declared, adding that his speech for the day was written using Generative AI.
