Oman tourist sites closed due to adverse weather conditions

The Civil Defence and Ambulance (CDAA) in Muscat said on Sunday, July 10, that all Oman tourist destinations would be closed until further notice. Therefore, UAE residents should postpone their road journeys to Oman. The decision resulted from the bad weather, which included widespread heavy rain, overflowing wadis, and choppy seas. Therefore, many accident reports and the disregard for instructions and warnings by individuals lead to this decision.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said that rainfall in several locations of Oman was quite heavy. The most recent weather report from the CAA stated: “Convective thunderstorm activity and movement continue across the governorates of Al Wusta and Dhofar, with prospects of rain of varying intensities. There is a risk of rain as clouds of various heights sweep across South Al Sharqiyah Governorate. Over areas of Al Dakhiliyah, Al Dhahirah, and South Al Batinah, thunderstorms are still raging, and rains of different intensities are still falling.  The Sultanate of Oman’s administration emphasised for those who were already there to follow the rules set up to preserve public safety until the weather improved.
