Popular Arab TV star dies suddenly at 48, fans and celebs in shock

Beloved Syrian TV host Subhy Otry has passed away at just 48 years old, leaving fans and fellow stars across the Arab world in disbelief. His sudden death, reportedly due to a heart attack, occurred in Germany, but confusion surrounded the timeline and circumstances of his passing.

Initial Arabic media reports said Otry died on Wednesday morning, but a close friend later clarified he had passed away three days earlier, inside a pharmacy in Berlin. Tragically, he had no ID or passport on him at the time, which delayed identification.

An Outpouring of Grief

The news hit social media like a storm, with fans and Arab celebrities flooding platforms with heartfelt tributes, photos, and videos featuring the late presenter. His death has sparked widespread grief throughout the media world.

The team behind the show ET Bil Arabi,  the first to break the news, released a statement saying: “In sad and devastating news for the ET Bil Arabi team and the Charisma Media Group, we mourn with deep sorrow and grief our dear colleague, Subhy Otry. May God have mercy on Sobhi and grant us all patience and solace.”

Health Struggles Revealed

The first confirmation of the cause came from Otry’s uncle, Samir Asaad, who wrote on Facebook that his nephew died of a heart attack. That post has since disappeared. Friends later revealed that Otry had been complaining of severe stomach pain for several days before his death.

Emirati actor shares last message

In a heartbreaking twist, Emirati actor and director Habib Ghuloom Al Attar shared the last message he received from Otry, a plea for work.

“He told me he needed a job after being let go as a journalist. The young friend with a kind heart and a beautiful smile has passed away. To Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return,” Habib said.

Syrian journalist Hiba Haidari also spoke out, revealing that Subhy had been under immense psychological pressure, devastated by his job loss.

“He was suffering from sadness, oppression, and the harsh reality of a profession that often lacks loyalty,” she wrote.

Reports suggest Otry was staying at a hotel in Berlin but left without any identification, which caused delays in confirming his death. He was only identified after a friend reported him missing.
