As soon as the call to Maghrib fills the air in Dubai, thousands of residents gather with their family and friends to end their fast. But for the city’s delivery riders, Iftar often means a rushed meal between deliveries.
To support these workers during Ramadan, a restaurant in Al Karama is offering free Iftar meals to delivery riders throughout the Holy Month.
Aminia, the Dubai branch of a legendary restaurant from Kolkata, India, known for its Mughlai cuisine since 1929, is offering free Iftar meals to delivery riders throughout Ramadan.
Each Iftar box will contain a freshly prepared meal. The restaurant plans to distribute over 1,000 meals, with the ability to increase capacity based on demand.
Dubai residents are also being encouraged to spread the word so that more riders can benefit from the initiative. Social media users who share a picture with a delivery rider tagging @AminiaRestaurantuae, and using the hashtag #IftarForRiders. åParticipants will receive a 10 per cent discount on their next meal at Aminia restaurant as a token of appreciation.
Speaking on the initiative, Kabir Azhar and Asher Azhar, Directors of Aminia, emphasized that Ramadan is one of the busiest times of the year for the food industry, with delivery riders often struggling to find time to break their fast as they work to ensure timely meal deliveries for others. This initiative, they said, aims to provide riders with a moment of relief and a nourishing meal during the Holy Month.
