In a groundbreaking move, the UAE is set to become the first nation in the region to deploy AI-powered drones for the crescent moon sighting, marking the onset of Ramadan. 

This innovative approach, announced by the UAE Council for Fatwa, aims to enhance the accuracy of traditional moon sighting methods. 

This method will complement traditional naked eyesighting accounts and advanced astronomical observatories across the country, which are equipped with state-of-the-art technology to ensure precise moon sighting.

The council has called upon residents to observe the crescent moon on the evening of Friday, February 28, 2025, corresponding to 29 Sha’ban 1446 AH. 

Those who spot the moon are encouraged to report their sightings through the official hotline or online portal.
