Ramadan in UAE: Emirates to provide Iftar boxes for fasting passengers
If you’re flying during Ramadan 2026, Emirates has unveiled its special in-flight Iftar boxes designed to help fasting passengers break their fast comfortably at 30,000 feet.
The Dubai-based airline will serve thousands of nutritionally balanced Iftar meal boxes across all cabin classes throughout the holy month — in addition to its regular hot meal service.
What’s Inside Emirates’ Ramadan Iftar Box?
The bespoke boxes, decorated with traditional Islamic art, include:
- Hummus, moutabel or muhammara with traditional bread
- Chicken mossakan sandwich or herbed chicken sandwich
- Sweet treats such as chocolate almonds, baklava pistachio mamoul or baklava pine seed cashew
- Laban for refreshment
The meals are designed to provide a balanced and energising way to break the fast while travelling.

How Emirates Calculates Iftar Time
Breaking your fast mid-flight requires precision.
Emirates uses a specialised tool that calculates Imsak (start of fasting) and Iftar timings based on the aircraft’s exact longitude, latitude and altitude. The captain officially announces sunset and iftar time once the sun sets in the aircraft’s position.
Passengers can also request keepsake prayer mats from cabin crew during Ramadan.
Iftar at Emirates Lounges and Boarding Gates
At select boarding gates during iftar time, fasting travellers will receive complimentary boxes containing:
- Water
- Laban
- A banana
- Dates
At Emirates’ lounges in Dubai International Airport (DXB), guests can expect:
- Regional sweets, dates and Arabic coffee
- Hot and cold mezze
- Lentil soup
- Mixed grill
- Lamb mandi
For dessert, options include pistachio kunafa, kathayef cream, saffron basbousa, kitta cheesecake and cheese kunafa.
Emirates also provides Ramadan awareness training to cabin crew and ground staff in Dubai to ensure passengers observing the holy month are supported throughout their journey.
