Ramadan shopping bonanza: UAE supermarkets slash prices by 65 per cent on essential products

Shoppers in the UAE are in for a massive treat this Ramadan, with huge discounts of up to 65 per cent on thousands of essential products across major supermarkets.
Biggest-ever savings: 644 major outlets have announced price cuts on over 10,000 items, with one co-op store alone slashing prices by a whopping Dh35 million.
Where to find the best deals:
- Lulu Hypermarket is offering 65 per cent off on 5,500 products across its 600 branches.
- Another leading supermarket is rolling out 60 per cent discounts on over 5,000 products.
Food reserves fully stocked:
Authorities have ensured a steady supply of essentials, with daily food imports reaching 15,000 tonnes in Dubai and 6,000 tonnes in Abu Dhabi. The government is making sure shelves stay full, so there’s no shortage of Ramadan essentials.
No sneaky price hikes allowed:
The Ministry of Economy is cracking down on any unfair price increases, keeping a strict watch on nine essential food items, including oil, eggs, dairy, rice, sugar, poultry, bread, and wheat.
Surprise inspections: Over 420 inspections are planned for Ramadan. Authorities carried out 80,249 surprise checks last year, catching 8,388 violations. A new digital tracking system now flags illegal price hikes in real-time, keeping retailers in check.
Where to report price tampering:
The ministry is urging shoppers to report any price tampering at supermarkets via WhatsApp or the toll-free hotline 8001222. Last year, 93 per cent of consumer complaints were resolved on time.
With mega discounts and strict price controls, Ramadan 2025 is shaping up to be a shopper’s delight.
