Sharjah cancels all New Year celebrations in support of Gaza

The Sharjah Police on Tuesday announced a ban on New Year’s Eve celebrations and firework displays as a way of expressing solidarity to the people of Gaza. The authority appealed to all institutions and individuals to cooperate and added that it will take legal action against those who violate the instructions.

The Sharjah Police appeal to all institutions and individuals in the emirate to cooperate with them and comply with the rules. “Human solidarity is a culture and a well-established thought in the Emirate of Sharjah,” the GHQ of Sharjah Police added. The government of Sharjah took the bold step due to the on going war in Gaza that has left 20,915 people killed and 54,918 injured in Israeli strikes since Oct. 7.
