The greatest show on earth just got better Read on To find out how

The Greatest Show on Earth is all set to host a dazzling display of sapphires worth $100 million this weekend. That’s right! If you are in Dubai, then you catch a glimpse of this magical gem at the Sri Lanka pavilion’s Days of Sapphire exhibition at the Expo 2020 Dubai this Saturday.
Wondering what’s on offer? It will feature treasures including a gem more than 1,000 years old, known as the Kufic Arabic that originates from the 10th century. And what’s more? Renowned jewellery specialist Helen Molesworth will be on hand to take you on a fascinating walk-through of the exhibition, helping you understand the importance of the gemstone to the country often known as the emerald isle.

“Sri Lanka has not only produced gemstones of remarkable quality and variety, but has done so consistently over millennia, a testament to the continual global importance of the true ‘Island of Gems’,” she was quoted by The National as saying in the run up to the exhibition.
References to the gems of Sri Lanka date back to the 2nd century and Arab explorer Ibn Battuta wrote about the island’s rich array of valuable stones almost seven centuries ago.

Admission to the sapphire show at the Sri Lanka pavilion is free of charge and open to anyone with an expo ticket on Saturday.
It is the latest visitor attraction to be announced for the final weeks of the world’s fair that has already seen register over 14m visits since its start in October.
Earlier, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, visited Sri Lanka’s vibrant pavilion with Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and Deputy Ruler of Dubai, in the company of Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, in December.
