Traffic jams? Not in Dubai: Soon AI-powered signals to slash delays on roads

Dubai is about to level up its roads with next-gen AI-powered traffic signals, designed to slash congestion and make your commute smoother than ever.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has kicked off work on its futuristic UTC-UX Fusion system, which will bring artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, and digital twin technology to major intersections across the city.
And the best part? The upgrade is expected to be fully rolled out by mid-2026.
RTA is going all-in on smart tech to keep Dubai’s streets moving, promising faster travel times, fewer jams, and priority lanes for emergency vehicles and public transport.
Smarter and faster traffic flow
Hussain Al Banna, CEO of RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, says the AI-powered system will cut intersection delays by up to 20 per cent, making life easier for everyone – from daily commuters to cyclists and pedestrians.
Here’s what you can expect from Dubai’s futuristic traffic lights:
- Predictive AI: The system will anticipate traffic movements and adjust signals in real time.
- Digital Twin Tech: Dubai’s roads will get a virtual twin to test signal changes before rolling them out.
- Smart Car Communication: Future-ready signals will talk to smart vehicles, ensuring seamless traffic flow.
With AI calling the shots, Dubai’s roads are about to get faster, safer, and more efficient than ever before. Buckle up – the future of traffic is here.
