TripAdvisor ranks Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque among world’s top landmarks

Abu Dhabi’s crown jewel, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, is turning heads globally once more, this time climbing two spots to claim the 8th place in TripAdvisor’s Top 25 Landmarks in the World for 2025.
The iconic white-marble mosque didn’t just shine globally. It also kept its crown as the No. 1 cultural landmark in the Middle East, according to TripAdvisor’s annual “Best of the Best” report, which is based on millions of reviews and ratings from real travellers.
UAE pride on the global stage
With its grand domes, stunning reflective pools, and intricate Islamic architecture, the mosque isn’t just an architectural wonder; it’s a symbol of peace, inclusivity, and cultural pride. Every year, it welcomes over seven million visitors who come to experience its spiritual calm and visual beauty.
It’s also now officially among the top 1per cent of attractions worldwide, a major feat in the world of global tourism.
Fujairah’s moment in the spotlight
It’s not just Abu Dhabi in the limelight. The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Fujairah also earned a spot in the global rankings, landing in the top 10 per cent of landmarks worldwide, an impressive achievement given that it only recently began full-scale visitor operations.
Set against the scenic backdrop of the Fujairah mountains, this newer mosque is quickly becoming a must-visit destination for cultural travellers.
What’s behind the success?
Dr Yousif Al Obaidli, Director General of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre, credited the UAE’s leadership and years of strategic planning for this global recognition. He said the team has been working tirelessly to improve visitor services, train Emirati cultural guides, and create meaningful, educational experiences.
Looking ahead, the centre plans to roll out even more cultural programmes, exhibitions, and interactive tours that highlight the mosque’s universal values of peace, harmony, and coexistence.
More than just a beautiful building
While it’s a place of worship at its core, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque has evolved into something much bigger, a beacon for interfaith dialogue, cultural exchange, and global understanding.
