UAE celebrates India’s Independence Day with vigour and vibrance

Dubai has sparked the spirit of India’s independence as the city hosts a number of exciting activities to commemorate the country’s 77th independence. Dubai took the initiative to inaugurate the Indian Independence Day celebrations this year, bringing together its diversified population and the vibrant Indian expat community in a big celebration.

To organise these festivities, Burjuman Mall, in collaboration with the Indian Consulate General. The mall is a suitable setting to conduct a number of interesting events that highlight India’s rich heritage because of its prominent location and relevance in the city’s cultural environment.

The events have been enthralling audiences every evening from August 12, with everything from traditional dances that encapsulate the essence of different Indian states to the sounds of India’s music traditions. Colourful performances that delight both locals and visitors alike have been a hallmark, showcasing the rich fabric of Indian culture.
Majid Al Futtaim group is set to host an unforgettable celebration of India’s Independence Day with spectacular traditional dances and performances for the community at City Centre Deira. Likewise,LuLu Hypermarket’s latest campaign, that includes celebrity appearances, fashion displays, cultural events, product discounts has begun a seven-day celebration of Indian Independence Day in Abu Dhabi.
The ‘Celebrations of India’ campaign, which places a special emphasis on millets in response to the UN designating 2023 as the Year of Millets, was launched by Sunjay Sudhir, Indian Ambassador to the UAE. “A few days from now, India will complete 76 years of its independence, but I already see festivities all around us,” Sudhir said during the ceremony held at Al Wahda Mall, where there were several stalls of Indian products, including food, traditional dance and music shows accompanying the famous Punjabi Bhangra, and more.
LuLu Group has provided “great service” to India and the Indian expat community, according to Sudhir.
There will be more than 5,000 distinctive goods in the culinary and non-food categories on display. Importantly, there are over 20 distinct kinds of millets on exhibit, as well as a variety of delicacies that are sold at the hot-food counter that are created from millets. Additionally, goods from several Indian states are marketed, including, among others, vegetables from Kerala, Kashmiri apples, and Meghalayan pineapples.The festivities will feature Indian handicrafts, traditional clothing, and dishes including biryani, munchies, and desserts. There will be performances on stage, featuring Indian classical and folk dances as well as fashion shows.
