UAE-Europe travel: SAS to launch direct Denmark–Dubai flights
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has announced a major expansion of its intercontinental network for Winter 2026/27, introducing three new long-haul routes from Copenhagen to Dubai, Phuket and Krabi.
The new services are designed to meet rising demand for travel to the Middle East and Asia, while further reinforcing Copenhagen Airport’s role as a key aviation hub for Scandinavia and Northern Europe.
SAS Returns to Dubai After 15 Years
The launch of flights to Dubai marks SAS’s first operation to the UAE since 2011, signalling a strategic return to one of the world’s most important global cities.
Dubai is positioned by the airline as a major international centre for business, tourism and innovation, offering year-round appeal for both leisure and corporate travellers. The new route will provide direct connectivity between Denmark and the UAE, with schedules designed to support convenient onward connections.
First-Ever Nonstop Flights to Phuket and Krabi
Thailand will see one of the biggest capacity boosts in the expansion. SAS will add more than 75% additional seats to the country compared with the previous winter season.
Strengthening Copenhagen as a Global Hub
Paul Verhagen, Chief Operating Officer at SAS, said the new routes represent a significant step in the airline’s long-haul strategy.
“Re-establishing our presence in Dubai allows us to offer direct access to one of the world’s most dynamic cities, while Phuket and Krabi give our customers nonstop connections to Thailand’s most sought-after destinations. Together, these routes strengthen Copenhagen as a global hub for Scandinavia and Northern Europe.”
New Airbus A350s Fuel Long-Haul Growth
The Winter 2026/27 expansion is supported by the delivery of two additional Airbus A350 aircraft, enabling a 34% increase in A350 operations across the network.
Punctuality Supports Expansion
SAS said its continued recognition as one of the world’s most punctual airlines has helped support confidence in scaling long-haul operations, as the new Winter 2026/27 schedule is rolled out.
