UAE weather alert: Fog, dust and cooler days expected this weekend, here’s what to know
The UAE is gearing up for a mixed bag of weather over the next few days, with fog, dust and a dip in temperatures expected from Thursday, November 20, to Sunday, November 23, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
Foggy starts ahead
Residents in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and nearby areas should brace for dense early-morning fog, especially along external highways. Visibility is expected to be low at dawn on Thursday, and this fog-and-mist pattern will continue every night and into the early mornings through Sunday.
Humidity will stay high overnight too, creating ideal conditions for fog to return on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Dusty, breezy afternoons
Daytime weather will be generally fair to partly cloudy, but expect dust in the air. Fresh Northeasterly to Northwesterly winds on Thursday and Friday, reaching up to 40km/h in western regions, will kick up more dust.
Winds ease slightly on Saturday and Sunday, but will still stir dusty conditions in northern and eastern areas.
Sea travellers should also take note: the Arabian Gulf may turn moderate to rough, particularly on Friday, while the Oman Sea stays calm all weekend.
Cooler weekend vibes
A gradual cool-down is on the way. Coastal areas will start feeling the cooler breeze from Friday, with temperatures dipping further on Saturday.
Daytime highs will stay comfortable at 28°C to 31°C, but internal and mountainous areas could see lows dropping to 16°C to 19°C, perfect for those who love crisp early mornings.
Motorists are urged to stay cautious during fog hours, check visibility forecasts, and plan travel accordingly.
