UAE’s winter tourism season kicks off with festivals, outdoor adventures and family fun
From desert dunes to mountain escapes, the UAE is in full winter mode. With cooler temperatures settling in, the UAE has officially launched its winter tourism season, and momentum is building fast across all seven emirates. From heritage festivals and outdoor adventures to theme park celebrations and winter camps, the country is once again proving why it’s one of the world’s top winter destinations.
Tourism officials expect strong growth in both domestic and international visitors, driven by rising demand for open-air experiences, entertainment events and cultural celebrations that thrive during the winter months.
What’s happening this winter?
From mid-December through April, the UAE’s calendar is packed with experiences for every kind of traveller.
Abu Dhabi: Culture, dunes and family fun
One of the season’s biggest highlights is the Liwa International Festival in Al Dhafra, running until January 3. Spanning 23 days, the festival brings together:
- Heritage showcases
- Dune sports at Tal Moreeb
- Live performances and concerts
- Shopping and cultural zones
Meanwhile, Umm Al Emarat Park’s Winter Season Programme continues to offer family-friendly activities through April 2026.
Over on Yas Island, winter events are in full swing at its world-famous theme parks, featuring festive shows, snow-themed attractions and seasonal celebrations. The Yas Winter Festival runs until December 21, drawing families from across the region.
Dubai: Festivals, fireworks and winter markets
Dubai’s winter calendar is as busy as ever.
Global Village remains a major draw with pavilions from around the world, while the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) delivers concerts, promotions and fireworks, a cornerstone of the emirate’s winter appeal.
DSF also brings drone shows to Bluewaters and The Beach at JBR until January 11, with two nightly performances lighting up the sky.

Northern emirates join the winter buzz
- Sharjah is rolling out winter events at Al Majaz Waterfront, Kalba and Shees Park, featuring light shows, outdoor activities and seasonal markets.
- Ajman sees increased waterfront activity and cultural markets.
- Umm Al Quwain is emerging as a go-to spot for peaceful winter camping.
- Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah are drawing visitors to their mountains and beaches, alongside sports and community events.
Al Ain: Heritage and nature experiences
Al Ain continues to strengthen its winter appeal with family and heritage events at Al Ain Oasis, parks, museums and public squares. There’s also growing demand for desert safaris and mountain adventures on Jebel Hafeet, cementing the city’s place on the winter tourism map.
Winter camps take centre stage
Beyond tourism, winter camps are playing a big role this season. From desert camps in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah to educational and youth programmes, these initiatives focus on:
