December 7th was a day to remember. The buzZz on everyone’s lips was the UAE Government’s announcement of transitioning to a four-and-a-half-day work week from 2022.
Subsequently, the governments of six emirates released their statements affirming the same with one notable exception: Sharjah, until today.
Sharjah finally announced its plans for the workweeks of 2022.
Sharjah Government employees will work from 7.30am to 3.30pm on weekdays. Friday will be a full-day holiday, in addition to Saturday and Sunday.
Following extensive research, the decision was set in stone as per directives issued by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
The new workweek and timings are effective from January 1, 2022.
