Abu Dhabi takes centre stage in Brad Pitt’s action-packed ‘F1’ movie trailer

The highly anticipated ‘F1’ movie starring Brad Pitt has unveiled its first cinematic trailer, offering a glimpse into the adrenaline-fuelled world of Formula 1 racing.
Abu Dhabi Plays a Key Role in Production
Filming for F1 included 29 days of production in Abu Dhabi, featuring Yas Marina Circuit, Zayed International Airport, and twofour54 Studios. The project involved an international production team, a local crew of 284, 15 young interns, and support from the Abu Dhabi Film Commission’s rebate scheme.
Directed and produced by Joseph Kosinski, the film is set for a global theatrical release on June 25, 2025, with Warner Bros.
Speaking about the trailer’s release, Creative Media Authority’s Acting Director-General Mohamed Dobay highlighted the excitement of seeing Abu Dhabi’s landmarks on screen: “With scenes from the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the W Abu Dhabi, and the closing fireworks, this film showcases our city’s cinematic potential.”
Sameer Al Jaberi, Head of Abu Dhabi Film Commission, echoed the sentiment: “Seeing years of hard work come to life in this trailer is an emotional moment. The release is just months away, and we’re thrilled to have played a part in bringing this film.”
A High-Octane Comeback Story
In ‘F1’, Brad Pitt plays Sonny Hayes, a former rising star of the 1990s Formula 1 circuit whose career was cut short by a devastating accident. Decades later, he’s drawn back to the track by his former teammate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), now the struggling owner of an F1 team on the brink of collapse.
With one last shot at redemption, Sonny partners with rookie driver Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), but soon realizes that in Formula 1, teammates can be the fiercest rivals—and the road to a comeback is anything but smooth.
Filmed at Real Grand Prix Events
Produced in collaboration with Formula 1, the film was shot during actual Grand Prix weekends, capturing the raw intensity of the sport. The cast also includes Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo, with a screenplay by Ehren Kruger.
