Atlantis, The Palm unveils Lost World Aquarium: Dubai’s new marine adventure opens Oct 27

Atlantis, The Palm has given its famous aquarium a major makeover, and it’s now called the Lost World Aquarium.
Seventeen years after it first opened, this all-new attraction officially welcomes visitors from Monday, October 27, and promises a one-of-a-kind marine experience for the whole family.
What’s new
The Lost World Aquarium isn’t just about fish tanks; it’s a fully immersive marine world. Expect:
- Huge digital displays and projection mapping that make you feel like you’re diving underwater.
- Over 1,900 LED panels, 55 projectors, and 140 speakers that bring the ocean to life.
- 14 themed rooms filled with cinematic visuals, sound, and interactive storytelling.
Everything has been designed to make you feel like you’ve stepped into a fantasy underwater world.
Interactive Trident
Guests can upgrade their experience with an Interactive Trident, a cool take-home souvenir that unlocks 20 hidden features, from glowing artefacts to sound and light effects around the aquarium.
Meet the new residents
The Lost World Aquarium now has 430 new marine animals across 35 species, including:
- The quirky Striated Frogfish
- The smiling Axolotl
- The mysterious Giant Pacific Octopus
There are also 19 new habitats, each designed to reflect the real diversity of the ocean.
Live mermaid show
One of the highlights is the “Return of the Trident” show — a live mermaid performance inside the 10-metre-deep Ambassador Lagoon.
- Five professional underwater performers bring the story to life with dance, music, and movement.
- Shows run multiple times a day.
- The international cast comes from the US, Greece, Brazil, Slovakia, and Indonesia.
Learn and explore
The aquarium also focuses on education and ocean awareness. Interactive displays teach visitors about marine life and conservation, and special behind-the-scenes tours show how experts care for the animals.
You’ll also learn about the Atlantis Atlas Project, which supports ocean sustainability and environmental conservation in the UAE.
