Ever felt undecided on what colour your new car should be? Looks like BMW has solved that problemEver felt undecided on what colour your new car should sport? Looks like BMW has solved that problem.
BMW unveiled a colour-changing car at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show (ECS). They demonstrated the paint-switching technology on a BMW iX.
The effect is produced by E Ink, a technology similar to what’s used in e-readers. The ink comprises millions of microcapsules the size of a human hair suspended in an exterior wrap, according to BMW’s press release.
You can change the colours through an app but currently are limited to black, white and grey.
Unfortunately, BMW has no plans to offer the technology on current production models. Still pretty cool…don’t you think?
