Dubai is set to welcome dog lovers, security professionals, and global K9 experts to a first-of-its-kind event — the International K9 Show, running from April 18 to 20. Organised by Dubai Police in partnership with Purina Pro Plan, Nestlé’s acclaimed pet nutrition brand, the three-day event promises a unique blend of world-class policing demonstrations, pet care exhibitions, and interactive community experiences.

Held under the banner of security innovation and international collaboration, the show aims to position Dubai as a global hub for police dog training and K9 operations. Over 30 international exhibitors will gather in the city to showcase their expertise in canine training, care, and technology.

Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations Affairs at Dubai Police, highlighted the event’s broader mission: “This inaugural K9 event is a step forward in creating a dedicated platform for police dog units, showcasing our expertise in training and deploying K9s for security and rescue operations. It also opens the door for knowledge exchange and sharing of best practices among global experts.”

Al Ghaithi noted that the long-term vision is to establish the International K9 Show as a flagship global event within the next five years.

Lieutenant Colonel Salah Al Mazrouei, Director of the K9 Security Inspection Unit, echoed the importance of the initiative: “Police dogs play a crucial role in supporting Dubai Police’s efforts to maintain safety and security. With their unique abilities, K9s are indispensable partners in complex missions and rescue operations at the local, regional, and international levels.”

According to Al Mazrouei, the show isn’t just for professionals — it’s also designed to bring the community closer to the world of working dogs. “Visitors can expect engaging activities, workshops, and live displays. It’s a family-friendly event with competitions, educational sessions, and even cash prizes for top breeds and standout performances.”
