Dubai Mallathon sets Guinness World Record with 1,392 runners

Under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, the Dubai Mallathon has made history by setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest mall run.
The month-long initiative, which transformed nine of the city’s busiest shopping centres into fitness tracks, concluded on Sunday with a record-breaking finale at Dubai Hills Mall. A total of 1,392 runners of all ages and nationalities participated in the closing race, officially earning Dubai a new entry in the Guinness World Records.
The Mallathon drew over 40,000 participants, logging more than 120 million steps on safe, air-conditioned tracks throughout August, firmly establishing itself as one of the emirate’s biggest community sporting events.
The closing ceremony also featured a 42-km marathon with winners crowned across different categories, including People of Determination, further highlighting inclusivity.
With the support of multiple government entities and youth councils from across the UAE, the Mallathon aligned with the Year of Community, Dubai Social Agenda 33, and Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033, underlining Dubai’s commitment to fostering a healthier and more active lifestyle for residents and visitors alike.
