Dubai Police launch Game Jam with cash prizes and festival showcase

Game developers across the UAE are invited to take part in the Dubai Police x DEF Game Jam, a new competition that challenges participants to create purpose-driven video games for a chance to win cash prizes and present their work at the Dubai Esports & Games Festival (DEF).

Open to solo developers and teams of up to four, the Game Jam invited participants to design and submit a playable game based on a surprise theme that was announced yesterday. Developers have four days to bring their ideas to life, with final submissions due by May 8 at 12 pm.

Organised by the Dubai Police Esports Arena in collaboration with DEF, the initiative aims to inspire young creatives to combine innovation with social impact through gaming.

Top Three Winners to Receive Cash Prizes and Live Showcase

The competition will culminate in a live showcase at the Dubai World Trade Centre on May 11, where the top three games will be announced at the Dubai Police stand during DEF. Winners will not only receive cash prizes but also gain the opportunity to exhibit their games to a live audience at one of the UAE’s biggest gaming events.

To qualify for prizes, winners must be able to attend the event in person and present a valid Emirates ID upon confirmation. Registered participants will be contacted via the details submitted with their game entry.

Game Development Tools, Assets, and Rules

Participants can use any software or platform to build their games, including Unity, Unreal Engine, Godot, Blender, and even AI tools. Free assets are permitted, provided that proper credit is given to the original creators.

Key rules include:

  • A maximum of four members per team
  • Only one submission per team
  • Games must be respectful and appropriate for all audiences
  • All finalists must attend the live event on May 11

This initiative is part of a broader effort by Dubai Police and DEF to promote digital creativity, youth empowerment, and responsible innovation in the gaming industry.
