Dubai’s iconic Barasti Beach Club announces closure for major makeover
Dubai’s long-standing beachfront hotspot Barasti is set to temporarily close this June as it prepares for a comprehensive redevelopment, marking the end of an era for one of the city’s most recognisable beach clubs. The venue, located in Mina Seyahi, is expected to reopen in 2027 with a completely reimagined concept.
Operating since 1995, Barasti has been a defining part of Dubai’s leisure and nightlife landscape, known for its relaxed beachside atmosphere and loyal following. Over the decades, it has hosted internationally renowned artists including Steve Aoki and Alan Walker, while also becoming a popular destination for major sporting broadcasts and large-scale events such as the Corona Sunsets series.
As Dubai’s coastline has evolved with the rise of destinations like J1 Beach, Palm West Beach, and the wider Dubai Marina waterfront, Barasti has maintained its identity as a more laid-back alternative within an increasingly curated beach club scene. The upcoming redevelopment aims to retain that balance while introducing a more contemporary, multi-layered experience.
According to Destination Mina Seyahi, the reimagined venue will feature distinct zones designed for different audiences and times of day, including family-friendly daytime areas and more elevated evening spaces. The project will also include refreshed interiors, expanded dining concepts, and a format designed to transition seamlessly from morning to late-night experiences.
The transformation also aligns with ongoing growth in the surrounding Dubai Marina and Dubai Harbour districts, which continue to expand as residential and leisure hubs. The new Barasti is expected to position itself as both a neighbourhood destination and a lifestyle venue for visitors.
“Barasti is part of Dubai’s story,” said Ugur Lee Kanbur, multi-property general manager of Destination Mina Seyahi. “For 30 years, it has brought people together and created memories for generations of residents and visitors. We’re creating a destination that will honour that legacy while taking it to an entirely new level.”
Before closing its doors, Barasti will host a final farewell event on June 21 titled “Barasti: Last Orders.” The all-day celebration, beginning at 10am, will feature live DJs, beachfront experiences, and food and beverage offerings reflecting its signature atmosphere.
A farewell package priced at Dh150 will include three food items and five beverages, giving guests one last opportunity to experience the venue ahead of its redevelopment phase.
