Eid in Dubai: Etihad and Al Shindagah museums to host heritage experiences
Dubai Culture and Arts Authority is marking Eid Al Fitr with a vibrant programme of cultural activities across the Etihad Museum and Al Shindagah Museum, bringing families together to celebrate the spirit and traditions of the holiday.
The initiative is part of the wider ‘Eid in Dubai’ campaign under the Season of Wulfa, designed to highlight community connection, heritage, and shared cultural experiences across the emirate.
Celebrating tradition through creativity
At Etihad Museum, visitors can take part in the ‘Memory Frame’ workshop, where they create personalised photo frames to capture their Eid moments. Another highlight is the ‘Union Commemorative Stamp’ session, allowing participants to design keepsake cards inspired by the UAE’s history and national symbols.
Guided tours will also run every hour, offering deeper insights into the milestones that shaped the nation’s formation.
Immersive heritage experiences
At Al Shindagah Museum, the UAE’s largest heritage museum, families can explore the Eidiya Cultural Trail, an interactive journey through traditional houses and pavilions. Visitors will discover stories of Dubai’s past through artefacts, archival photographs, and films that highlight Eid customs and local traditions.
At the Visitor Centre, the ‘Gahwat Al Eid’ experience introduces guests to the art of preparing and serving Arabic coffee, an enduring symbol of Emirati hospitality.
Workshops, crafts and cultural performances
The programme also features a variety of hands-on workshops and performances, including:
- Arish Supper Club: A curated dining experience led by Emirati chef Sahar Al Awadhi, inspired by Eid flavours
- Talli Circle: A traditional weaving session led by Dr Azra Khamissa
- Embroidery on Print: A creative workshop blending modern embroidery with photography
- Thoub Al Eid: A session where visitors design miniature garments inspired by heritage textiles
- Zinat Al Eid Metal Workshop: Exploring the art of silver jewellery making
Dar Al Maktoum will also host Ayala performances, showcasing one of the UAE’s most iconic traditional performing arts.
Through this diverse programme, Dubai Culture aims to celebrate the values of generosity, togetherness, and cultural pride that define Eid Al Fitr.
By blending history, creativity, and interactive experiences, the initiative offers residents and visitors a meaningful way to connect with Emirati heritage while enjoying the festive atmosphere.
