FIRST-apen! Dutchman Max Verstappen completes Abu Dhabi miracle to grab first title
Abu Dhabi: Max Verstappen clinched his first Formula 1 world title after winning a nearly UNBELIEVABLE Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday evening.
One of the most compelling years in the history of F1 went right down to the wire just as night fell in the capital after both Red Bull’s Verstappen and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton arrived at the Yas Marina Circuit level on 369.5 points.
Verstappen on Saturday had earned a dominant pole in qualifying on Saturday, something that set him up nicely for clinching the world title with a crazy win on Sunday.
It marks a maiden championship for the 24-year-old Dutchman, and leaves Hamilton still in search for a record eighth world title as he remains level with legend Michael Schumacher on seven.
