How Wynn Al Marjan Island is bringing luxury, jobs, and tourism boost to Ras Al Khaimah

Ras Al Khaimah’s hospitality sector is on the brink of a major transformation, with the arrival of the $5.1 billion Wynn Al Marjan Island resort set to generate 7,000 new jobs when it opens in early 2027. The mega project, a joint venture between Ras Al Khaimah Hospitality Holding (RAKHH), Marjan, and US-based Wynn Resorts, will be a cornerstone in the emirate’s ambitious destination strategy.

“This integrated resort will not only enhance the tourism landscape but also create significant employment opportunities, attract new suppliers, and drive demand for skilled hospitality professionals,” said Alison Grinnell, Chief Executive of RAKHH.

Housing the Workforce of the Future

In preparation for this surge in employment, RAKHH has completed the first phase of The Campus, a purpose-built residential community for hospitality employees. Capable of accommodating 3,000 residents in its initial stage, the development features shopping avenues, cafes, outdoor spaces, and community centres.

Phase 2, expected to be twice the size, will support the emirate’s broader plan to double its hotel inventory and create over 25,000 hospitality jobs by 2030, according to consultancy Stirling Hospitality Advisors.

“The Campus is designed as a home away from home, ensuring staff have a high quality of life,” Grinnell said.

“Accommodation will be tailored to job roles, from entry-level to senior management.”

More Hotels, More Careers

RAKHH’s pipeline includes diverse projects in Jebel Jais, beachfront areas, and the desert, catering to various customer segments. Wynn Al Marjan Island alone will contribute about 1,500 rooms to the emirate’s growing inventory, supported by a five-star spa, luxury retail outlets, exclusive nightlife, a private marina, and more than 420 metres of private white-sand beach.

The resort will also house 24 dining venues, a high-end events centre, multiple pools, and Enclave, an exclusive boutique resort occupying the top floors of the tower with panoramic Arabian Gulf views.

Gaming license

Wynn Resorts has been granted the UAE’s first commercial gaming operator license by the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA). This is the second licence to be issued by the GCGRA, an independent executive entity within the UAE federal government that regulates, licenses, and supervises all commercial gaming activities and facilities in the UAE

Recruitment Drive Underway

With track construction, Wynn Resorts has begun hiring across multiple disciplines, from culinary arts and guest relations to events management, spa services, and luxury retail. Industry experts say the recruitment wave offers “once-in-a-decade” opportunities for hospitality talent in the UAE, especially as RAK positions itself as a global luxury destination.

For job seekers, this means a chance to join a brand with the most Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Awards of any independent hotel company worldwide, while helping shape Ras Al Khaimah’s new era of tourism.
